Toyota is helping key London workers during the coronavirus outbreak by donating its entire fleet of hiyacar rental vehicles free of charge.
Assistance, which is only available to London NHS staff and key workers, applies to Toyota listed on the Hiyacar service which are normally used for short-term private hire. A total of 31 cars will be available under the program, including the Aygo city car up to the Rav4 SUV, and 571 days of free rental have already been used by key workers. However, key workers still have to cover the cost of the insurance which Toyota says is £ 9 per day.
Paula Cooper, Director of Toyota GB’s ConsumerOne Division, said: “Our support for hiyacar’s initiative to keep key workers on the move seemed like a simple gesture at first, but to see the extent of what has was carried out with a relatively small number of cars. – well over a year of loans – is truly heartwarming for all of us here.
“In addition to allowing safe travel, we recently learned that a nurse in Leatherhead uses one of our cars four days a week to administer home tests to patients with disabilities and we know that a wide range of key workers, from pharmacists to physiotherapists, social workers to scientists have all been able to continue in their jobs thanks to hiyacar’s rental fee waiver program.
The program follows similar help from other manufacturers, including MG, Land Rover, Nissan and Opel.
NHS staff and key workers who wish to take advantage of the offer should visit hiyacar.fr for more information.
