Getting off the plane at LAX just got a massive upgrade for certain types of travelers.
PS, the private terminal at Los Angeles International Airport that allows wealthy travelers to skip the commercial terminal entirely, is launching a new pandemic-era luxury car service that offers transfers from the plane to the airport. ‘arrival.
PS Direct allows travelers to completely bypass the terminal, including the private PS terminal, and proceed directly to their final destination moments after disembarking from their commercial flight. This means that you no longer have to wait in taxi lines or walk through a crowded terminal to find your driver.
A PS representative greets passengers in the gangway and escorts them directly onto the airport tarmac where their elegant BMW 750i awaits them. The four-seater sedans have executive passenger seats with backrest entertainment screens, recline function, seat heating functions, individual climate control and sunroof, to name a few features.
Only annual PS members have access to the service and a single trip costs $ 3,450, which is $ 200 more than the cost of booking a luxury suite at the property. An annual PS membership costs $ 4,500 and includes perks like free valet parking, free spa services (not available during the pandemic), and priority reservations when booking suites.
Amina Belouizdad, co-CEO of PS, told Insider that the higher price of the service compared to its suites results from the cost of licenses for its drivers and other expenses associated with launching the service.
For frequent PS users, the experience will be largely similar to what they are used to when frequenting the suites, except that they will simply skip the private terminal and drive directly to their homes, hotels, or hotels. to where they are staying in Los Angeles. Even travelers with checked baggage can skip baggage claim and use the service.
âIf you’ve checked in luggage, you wait an average of five minutes in the BMW while we collect your luggage from the plane, put it in the trunk of your car, and then drive you straight home,â Belouizdad said.
The service is currently only available on arrival on a domestic flight. PS has its own US Customs and Border Protection facilities that inbound arrivals can use, but which require a stop in the private terminal.
On-plane pickups have always been a benefit of private flying, but PS is the first to make it available for commercial flights within the United States, an impressive feat given the heightened security environment that exists in busy international airports like LAX.
