Lyft and car rental company Sixt have teamed up to offer drivers the option of renting vehicles directly from the rideshare company’s app starting in August.
The service will initially be offered in Las Vegas, Seattle and Miami, with an expansion planned to other US cities.
“Partnering with SIXT allows us to quickly expand the reach of our rentals at a time when customers are looking for intuitive and hassle-free transportation solutions,” said Cal Lankton, vice president of fleet and global operations, Lyft. , in a press release. “With our vision for car rental, we deliver a completely integrated, frictionless and seamless transportation experience that renters love. “
Drivers can choose any car they want and use it for a predetermined amount of time. Once the user has completed the rental, Lyft will provide a $ 10 trip credit for transporting the driver to their home from the Sixt location where they dropped off the car.
Adhering to COVID-19 protocols and the ability to choose the exact make and model of the vehicle, the rental process includes contactless pickup and drop-off. Sixt has also implemented improved cleaning and social distancing measures at its sites to ensure that customers and employees are in a safe and sanitized environment.
“As a matter of principle, Sixt pursues a partnership approach to address the challenges of modern mobility,” said Sebastian Birkel, President of Sixt USA, in a statement.
