
FREEPORT, NY – A car driver attempted to rape a teenage female passenger last week, police said.
A 13-year-old girl contacted a local auto service to drive her home on Feb. 9, Nassau police said.
Before arriving at the girl’s home, Eudy MejiaMejia, 30, leaned over to the girl and asked for a kiss, police said.

She tried to get out of the vehicle, but the driver accelerated, detectives said.
After parking his black 2012 Toyota Highlander, MejiaMejia locked the doors, police said.

He is accused of climbing on the teenager and forcing himself on the girl, police said.
The girl was able to grab a plastic bottle from the center console, hitting the man, giving him time to get out, detectives said.
She ran to her nearby home and called 911. MejiaMejia fled the scene, police said.
After investigation, he was located and arrested without incident.
MejiaMejia, who was due to appear in court on Tuesday, faces charges including attempted first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
